A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) wing commander, Nauman Akram, was martyred after a PAF F-16 crashed Wednesday morning near Shakarparian in Islamabad.

Last month, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training aircraft crashed near Mardan. The previous week, a Mirage plane had crashed near the town of Shorkot, in the Jhang district of Punjab.

PAF said the plane that had crashed the previous week had been used for training by the Air Force and had crashed during a routine operational training mission. The official added that no loss of life was reported in the accident.

In addition, in January, two PAF pilots were martyred after a trainer crashed near the M M Alam base in Mianwali. According to an Air Force spokesman, the PAF FT-7 aircraft was also "on a routine operational training mission" when it crashed near Mianwali.
