Taking a closer look at Canadian visa rejection rates and delays
The suicide of a 23-year-old man in Haryana comes as a dire
warning amid long waits and high rejections of visa applications by Canada and
other countries – attributed mainly to lockdowns caused by Covid, among other
things reasons.
Western nations, which are popular study-abroad locations for students who intend to establish themselves there, claimed to be expanding their workforce and giving study visa applications top priority, but the process can take months. A tardy rejection might cost you money and motivation. In Canada, rejection rates would likewise be rising.
Canada Visa from Pakistan
Currently, the wait time for a US visa might be more than a
year.
Generally, the wait time for a visa to Canada is up to six
months; however, even for a student visa, the wait is now three months—three
times higher than it was before to Covid. And that concludes today's report
from the website of the Canadian government. If an applicant's application was
held up during a Covid surge over the previous two years, they must wait
longer.
Tourists may not care, but people trying to see relatives or
traveling for business are the most impacted.
The hardest hurt is the students who, in certain cases,
begin their online courses from here but lose admission if the immigration
office rejects them, as well as money.
Anxiety among consultants is being caused by an extraordinary
rise in the refusal rate, especially in Canada. A Canadian Parliament committee
report in May said 41% of Pakistan's study permit applications were rejected in
2021. Data from 2018 shows it was 25-35%.
Canada's High Commissioner to Pakistan said:
“Unfortunately, we have a post-pandemic post-Covid visa backlog in every visa
category. This is a severe backlog… We are investing more money and more
people to overcome it.
"Regardless of the country of origin, all applications
from across the world are assessed equally and following the same standards.
Study permit applications are prioritized for prospective students heading to a
province or territory that has a Covid-19 preparedness plan,” a spokesperson
said.
Students and families, particularly in Punjab and its
vicinity, who are among the major contributors to these applications, are
concerned about the wait time and the possibility of being rejected.
Canada is the ideal location because of its generally
welcoming immigration laws. This raises frustration levels as well as
expectations.
Note: The suicide of a 23-year-old man in Haryana's Kurukshetra yesterday is one extreme. It wasn't immediately clear when he applied, but such was fate that he received his visa - only after he left.
